We recently had the pleasure of working on a stunning Ferrari 458 Speciale, a vehicle that combines raw power with an exquisite design. The owner brought it to us to ensure it remains in pristine condition, both inside and out, and to add a little extra control over its roaring soundtrack. Here’s a rundown of what we did to keep this Ferrari looking and sounding spectacular.
Step 1: Re-Wrapping in XPEL Ultimate Plus PPF
The first step was to remove the old paint protection film (PPF), which had done its duty protecting the Ferrari’s paint from wear and tear over the years. With the old film off, we gave the car a thorough cleaning to prepare it for a new application. We opted for XPEL Ultimate Plus PPF, known for its superior clarity and durability. This film is virtually invisible and provides a high level of protection against scratches, rock chips, and environmental contaminants.
For areas of the car more prone to impact, such as the front bumper, hood, and side mirrors, we used a thicker, 10 mil version of the PPF. This thicker film offers enhanced protection where the car needs it most, ensuring those high-impact areas are even more resistant to damage.
Step 2: Windshield Protection Film Installation
Next, we addressed the windshield—a critical area vulnerable to rock chips and debris, especially at high speeds. We installed a top-quality windshield protection film, which acts much like PPF for the glass. This film helps prevent chips and cracks and is an essential addition for any high-performance vehicle like the 458 Speciale, preserving the driver’s visibility and the windshield’s integrity.
Step 3: Ceramic Coating Application
With the PPF in place, we applied a ceramic coating over the entire vehicle. This coating creates a hard, protective layer over the PPF and the painted surfaces not covered by the film. Benefits of ceramic coating include enhanced gloss and hydrophobic properties, which make washing the car easier and less frequent. It also adds another layer of protection against UV rays, chemical stains, and etching.
Step 4: Forza Exhaust Valve Controller
The final upgrade was the installation of the Forza Exhaust valve controller. This neat gadget gives the driver the ability to open or close the exhaust valves at the push of a button. Want to hear that signature Ferrari engine roar? Open the valves and enjoy the symphony. Need to keep things quiet in the neighborhood? Close them up. It’s a simple addition that significantly enhances the driving experience, providing both auditory pleasure and practicality.
