We’re always pushing the limits of creativity and craftsmanship, and our latest shop car project is the perfect example of this dedication. We took an Audi R8 and transformed it into a rolling work of art that combines stunning aesthetics with performance enhancements. Here’s the breakdown of this incredible build:
Step 1: Full Color Change Vinyl Wrap
We began the transformation with a complete color change using a limited-edition vinyl wrap from Inozetek in the eye-catching DDE 720 GTR Pink. This bold and vibrant color instantly set the tone for the rest of the build, ensuring the R8 would stand out no matter where it goes.
Step 2: Lowering the Stance
Next, we focused on the car’s stance. By installing high-performance lowering springs, we achieved a more aggressive and track-ready appearance while enhancing the car’s handling capabilities. The lowered profile perfectly complemented the sleek new wrap.
Step 3: Upgrading the Sound
To give the R8 a voice as bold as its new look, we installed a Soul Performance Exhaust system. The upgraded exhaust not only improved the car’s sound—providing a deep, aggressive roar—but also added a boost to its performance, creating an exhilarating driving experience.
Step 4: Custom AG Wheels
Wheels are a defining feature of any build, and for this project, we chose AG Wheels. These lightweight, custom-designed wheels added a perfect mix of style and performance, elevating the car’s aesthetics and ensuring it performed flawlessly on the road.
Step 5: Full Maxton Design Body Kit Installation
The Maxton Design body kit added a level of aggression and aerodynamic efficiency that matched the R8’s newfound personality. The kit included:
- Front Splitter
- Side Skirts
- Rear Diffuser
- Massive Carbon Fiber Wing with Built-In LED Bar
The wing installation proved to be the most challenging part of the process. With no provided instructions, our team had to meticulously plan and execute the wiring to integrate the LED bar seamlessly into the car’s electrical system. The effort paid off, as the illuminated wing adds an unmistakable flair at night.
Step 6: Custom Door Jamb Wraps
To add a unique touch, we wrapped the door jambs in a custom in-house design. This detail ensures that even when the doors are open, the car stands out, showcasing our commitment to creativity and precision.
Step 7: Protecting the Build
Once the cosmetic modifications were complete, it was time to protect our work. We applied Xpel Ultimate Plus Paint Protection Film (PPF) to the full front end, including the hood, front bumper, fenders, A-pillars, and mirrors. We also protected high-risk body kit components like the front splitter, side skirts, and carbon fiber wing to guard against rock chips and road debris.
To further enhance durability and ease of maintenance, we finished the car with a ceramic coating. This coating was applied to the entire vehicle, including the wheels, ensuring the R8 stays cleaner for longer and is easier to maintain.
